A Whirlwind Weekend
This past weekend was a WHIRLWIND of an adventure. I drove down on Friday afternoon after work, and was greeted by a beautiful sunset, and was able to spend a few hours hanging out with Joshua and Ivony before we called it a night and got some rest to be ready for the next day... and it's a good thing we did!
Waking up, we were able to have a pretty chill morning, got all the gear packed, and headed from our base south of Miami into the heart of Miami Beach at the SLS South Beach to meet our client, Wishbone & Clover, for a pre-shoot meeting.
We met over brunch and were able to get on the same page about the women we were shooting that weekend - this type of meeting is a MUST before any shoot to ensure it's a success. It was a really productive meeting, and good to really just get to know each other personally as well as understand the professional objectives of the weekend.
After wrapping up our meeting, we headed to Miami International Airport to pick up the ladies to begin shooting, and headed right back to the hotel.
Side note: driving to and from the airport for one shot is not recommended, so if you can bundle shots, that would be a huge plus... but sometimes you just need to do what needs to be done to get the shot. Also, parking in Miami Beach is a STRUGGLE. Avoid if possible (aka Uber)
From there we began a day of shooting at the SLS South Beach where we were quickly shut down because of "filming restrictions"... but we were able to snag a few quick shots before that time. From there the day was a little crazy trying to coordinate what shots were supposed to be where and for what product, but we were eventually able to figure it out and really get into stride once we made it to our final location for the evening at the Shore Club at South Beach. We were able to shoot a bunch of beauty product shots... but we had SO MUCH to shoot that we were there until almost 1:00AM before we moved on the the last shot for the night on Ocean Drive.
After grabbing a Lyft to Ocean Drive, we were able to find a location to shoot after just a few minutes and quickly grab the shots we needed to showcase the nightlife of Miami Beach (if you're into that kinda vibe... not really something we're into).
Finally, around 2:30AM we were able to crash at our BEAUTIFUL AirBnB that we able to find last minute and connect with the wonderful host, Robert, who made sure we had what we needed. We decided to take on the additional expense because we knew we might run a little late and had to be up early the next morning to begin shooting again. And since our minds are the greatest assets to the business, we wanted to make sure were doing as much as possible to ensure we were our best selfs for the client... while "hustle" is important (and we certainly did that), it's important to remember to care for yourself to ensure long term success.
We started off the next day bright and early back at SLS South Beach, and knocked out a bunch of shots really quickly before then transferring back to Shore Club at South Beach for some outdoor shots.
One thing that was interesting about this is that we had a moment where the security came over and started asking questions. I immediately jumped into action and walked him away from the shoot into the lobby to talk, allowing Joshua to keep shooting. Eventually we were able to work it out, but it goes to show you have to adapt quickly to accomplish what you need to.
Joshua headed out for one last location (they only let him in due to venue limitations), and we were able to call it a wrap. We captured a LOT of content, so there's a lot to edit over the next couple weeks... but it will be really amazing to have our content shared on the influencers accounts in a few weeks.
After grabbing lunch, we began a shoot with another client, Keeyoto, in the Miami Design District to capture the founders story about why she founded the brand. She's making some really amazing shoes, and we're excited to be part of her story!
And just like that, a whirlwind weekend came to a close. I made my way back to Orlando, and Joshua and Ivony returned home where we all knocked out early because we were exhausted. It was definitely one for the books - meeting new people, eating great food, and creating exciting content!
